America's Poor Kids
It is a frightening fact that more than millions of Americans have been affected by the nation’s economic crisis. In 2015, 43.1 million Americans lived in poverty, according to U.S. Census Bureau. Also, about 1 in every 5 children lived in families that fell below the poverty threshold. Poverty negatively affected American citizens and especially their children since they are dependent on others. Childhood poverty means that children might gone through inadequate nutrition; lower quality of educations; exposure to environmental toxins; or instability residence.

The graph shows that 1 in 5 American children were at risk in living in poverty. America was ranked in the fifth worst OECD country and we can see clearly that this problem is bigger than we might think it would be.
Poverty can substantially impact child and adolescent well-beings. Poor children are likely to be less healthy, both emotionally and physically than those who are not poor. Children born into poverty also are at greater risk in the poverty-related health factors such as low birth weight, elevated blood lead levels, and hearing loss contributed to the differential in IQ scores between poor and nonpoor children. Children living in poverty are linked with numbers of negative outcome such as poor academic achievement, school dropout, behavioral and socioemotional problems, and so on. Poverty is a big issue in almost every part in the world. Solving poverty is complex and involves lots of aspects, but we need to tackle it to enable people to make a reasonable living.
