Ai Slop

Do you have a favorite book, movie, art piece, or story? When you read this story was it impactful because it had all the required elements of a story? When you saw this painting was it mesmerizing because it was perfect? Maybe so, but it's probably not the elements of the story that resonate with you or the perfect strokes of the brush that captured your attention. It's actually the originality of it.  It was probably something you had never seen before or a book that went so deep within your mind that it changed something inside of you in the process. A story that you still think about to this day.

Stories and art have long been a part of how we as human show our deepest emotions and identity. It helps us understand and connect to one another in a world where we can be so divided. Allowing us to see a different perspective that we otherwise would never experience.

If art and story is a reflection of society and emotion, why are we allowing Ai to take this over? People are using Ai to increase the amount of art and books published every day. They use Ai as a quick rich scheme or use Ai to take shortcuts and maximize their profits.  Often generating art and books that we now call Ai slop.

This Ai Slop is all over the internet. Starting a new generation of people who will consider Ai slop as art. No longer knowing real graphic artist and designer that produce meaningful art. Many companies and publishing houses are choosing to use Ai slop in place of paying a human to create. Ai slop has developed so much in the last years that you now are seeing video Ai art. These are Ai generated content that you have seen on all over your TikTok page. These videos are all the same. Using the same generic, hallow stories over and over again. Coping the previous art styles to produce this art. Because this is what Ai us does. It doesn't think. It doesn't' have human emotions. It only repeats. If it only copies and repeats, how can we expect it to produce original innovative content.

Art is a permanent record of our personal human experience. We should not let this be created by Ai slop. Instead, we should strive to keep the arts alive. Continue to support those artists and writers that have a passion for humans.
