It is just a matter of time until Artificial Intelligence takes our jobs away

Do you want society to advance? It is a genuine question, because for some people it is an easier question than for others. Most people would say, obviously, we should grow, and society needs to flourish with better ideas all the time. The idea of Artificial Intelligence is the future, and most people are skeptical. AI has been around for decades, but the main wave of it becoming mainstream has only surfaced in the 2020’s. Its access has become easy for anyone to get their hands on. New platforms are pumping out their version of AI; each claim is a better rendition. The big question is that rumors are spreading more and more about AI advancement. Advancing to the point that our jobs could be in jeopardy. Should we be scared of the new AI system and what it will do to our lives?

Artificial intelligence has the processing speed, pattern recognition, and functional power to answer questions in an instant. No matter the questions. This machine is not biased and can be looked at as not a liability compared to humans in that position. AI can do all tasks without getting tired, without getting paid, taking time off, having holidays, sick time, or emotions. Now, where there are positives, there can also be flaws in its creation.

AI is not a supercomputer that is 100% right all of the time. It is not there yet to be flawless. It can answer simple and complex questions by completing tasks you give it. On the other hand, it is simply not human. Some would say it is stupid when it comes to common sense, real-world understanding, and self-awareness. The sad part about this truth is that some jobs don’t need those skills. You give it tasks, and it will complete them without many faults. That does not mean that it couldn’t be there someday.

The future is only advancing slowly but surely in the AI world. More and more people are working on AI, and it is only a matter of time until they make a version that can cancel some jobs completely. Job security is frightening for others, and some won’t ever go away. Jobs like software engineers/coders, healthcare professionals, energy experts, and more can be untouchable for now.

The questions we have to continue to ask ourselves are whether AI is something we are excited or scared of. We want life to become easier and better for all. That is a given, but the counter of that for many is the lives that might be disrupted because of it. Should we be scared of AI? I don’t know the true answer, but it scared me enough to be curious about it and ask more questions.
