They provide Housing Choice Vouchers or section 8 vouchers for low-income households to rent modest market-rate housing of their choice.  There is research that support this is the most effective method to eliminating homelessness as it helps prevent families from losing their home.

The Second method is called Permanent Supportive Housing. This program is also a rental assistance programs with additional support services for individuals living with mental illness. These programs put housing and support services to help the individual learn to build independence and tenacity skills . This housing program does require some commitment, but it is the most cost-efficient program that exist.

Lastly, “Housing First,” is a program that focuses on provide the necessities for an individual before they begin working on themselves. The individual does not have any conditions or need to participate in any of the social services it provides. The main focus is to allow the individual to become comfortable with their new surrounding to allow the individual to choose to access the social services rather than forcing them.
