Volunteering: Good for you and good for the community.

Volunteering and the good it offers.

Volunteering offers a lot of help and good to your community, but it is not just the people you are helping the receives the benefits of volunteering, you the volunteer receive benefits also. Helping yourself might not be one of the first things you think about, or maybe you don’t think about it at all when you decide to volunteer, but the benefits are there for you. There are plenty of list out there in the world of the top 7, 10, or 12 reasons why to volunteer, and they are all good reason, but I decided to give my top 5 and hopefully help you decide or possibly inspire you to volunteer. Now there are so many different ways in which you can volunteer, some are simple and some are more work (work in a homeless shelter, work in a food bank, donate books and cloths, just to name a few), but they all offer benefits to you.

1)      Volunteering can help build self-esteem and personal growth. (Helping, even if it is unseen will boost your spirits, making you feel good for helping, thus building self-esteem, and growing as a person.)

2)      Volunteering can bring people together. (Depending on the volunteering option, helping can bring you together with people that you might not have crossed paths with, or it can bring others together for the purpose of helping.)

3)      Volunteering will help build experience and life skills. (you might learn how to do something new, it might give you professional experience, in any case, you get experience.)

4)      Volunteer brings a community closer. (This helps a community join together, helping one another, and making a community a better community.)

5)      Volunteering lets you give back. (I feel that everyone at some point in their life has been touched somehow, by someone helping them, even if they are unaware, and this give you the opportunity to give back.)

There are so many other reasons to volunteer and they are not hard to find, on that note there are also many ways to volunteer. If you are looking for a way to volunteer in your community, volunteer match can help you find a way to help in your community you can find them here: https://www.volunteermatch.org/ . Give volunteering a try and enjoy helping someone and yourself.
