Right 2 Dream Too

For many homeless people finding somewhere to sleep safe is difficult. Who knows what could happen when you sleep in public spaces. Portland however has a camp located near the moda center called Right 2 Dream Too. Right 2 Dream Too provides safe sleeping areas for individuals for up to 12 hours as long as they follow the rules. Recently, in 2017 Right 2 Dream Too moved from their downtown location in chinatown to the rose quarter after five years of living there. The new location is apart of the Portland Transportation Bureau and residents will be able to live there for 2 years before finding a hopefully more permanent solution.

There are some complications though with moving the camp over to the Rose quarter. Many previous residents of Right 2 Dream Too received permanent housing because of the location downtown. Many social programs are downtown and many are able to walk to them, the new location makes that a little more difficult. A solution that is been provided to this is that residents will receive free bus tickets in order to keep going to the programs. The new location however makes the camp less visible to pedestrians and thus more advertising of the camp is needed for individuals who might need a safe place to sleep.
