Life Skills Training: A Valuable Resource for Those In Need

Learning essential skills is extremely important to living an independent and meaningful life. However, there are many people that lack essential skills like money management or keeping a household. A large majority of the people who have forgotten or lack these skills are those who are homeless. Because of this, life skill training is a valuable resource for those who want to get back on their feet and re-adjust into society.

There are many educational classes that you can attend that teach a variety of different skills, most of them at little to no cost. You can often find and take these courses online or in person at your local community center. Here in Portland there are many resources to choose from like behavioral health classes, cooking classes and even basic literacy and tutoring courses. These classes are great assets for those in need and are taught by people who are passionate about helping others.

It’s important that we help support these local courses through donations or volunteering so they can continue to help educate those who really need it.
