Retirement

Spending money like it grows on tree’s. Going out on the town every Friday night. Living pay check to pay check. These are a few sentences that describe the lives of many people living in their twenties. We are young and we are living in the moment. Unfortunately, too many people live their life like this. Failing to save for retirement.
“The quality of our lives can be dictated by the quality of the questions we ask ourselves” (Laura, 2017). Saving for retirement is something that needs to start when we are young, so as we age, we have a way to stop working once we physically need to. This starts with asking yourself, by what age would I like to retire and how much money do I need to do that? Planning for retirement at a young age helps a person avoid becoming financially vulnerable at an old age.
How financially secure a person is, is often considered a private topic. Educating a person on saving for retirement should not be. Merrill Edge gives ten tips on how to save for retirement. The first being to start right now (Merrill Edge). The reason being that the more you invest while you are young, the better off you will be when you are old (Merrill Edge). Planning for the future starts right now and can be improved drastically by consulting with a financial adviser.
Planning for retirement right now, is necessary for each person’s future. Having financial security helps overcome the obstacles of aging. These obstacles often come in the form of detreating health or living on a fixed income. “Financial health- just like the physical or mental kind- takes time and effort” (Schumer, 2018). So start right now to avoid the vulnerability of poor financial planning as you age.
