Prepare a Emergency Kit for your Home
Natural disasters can happen without warning. Being prepared can tilt the hardships in your favor. For some food and water will be the priority. For others their priority is medication. There are some medications where missing only one day of medication can increase your vulnerability without the appropriate contingencies. Every person at a minimum should assemble an emergency kit.
Ask your caregiver to assist you if needed. Items to include are food, water, batteries, medication, supplies for service animals. A complete emergency kit checklist can be found in the link 12 tips to prepare the elderly for disasters. Next time you go to your doctor ask for a month or two of medicine that you can keep on hand in case of an emergency. Ask your doctor and your pharmacist to assist you in being prepared. A tip for fresh drinking water is if you have an advance warning you can fill up your bathtub and any other containers with freshwater. Your hot water tank does contain gallons of fresh water. In an emergency keep that in mind. Stay safe and be prepared. Some helpful links below.
